Kalihi
Kapalama –
February 19th was the first
cruise night held at Shiro's Saimin restaurant, Kapalama City Square
Shopping Center on Dillingham Blvd. And the turnout couldn’t have
been better!
In a phone conversation with Arron Lee, owner of Shiro's, Arron
agreed that having Cruise Nights at the Kapalama location was great for
business. Unfortunately he'll be out of town during the Ewa Beach Cruise but
eagerly looked forward to the one after.
It seems that everyone who caught the live music and interacted
with some of the hot rod owners also had good things to say.
"It was so good that we hope they all come back," said Kalihi
resident, Jack Watanabe speaking about the hot rods while waiting in line for
saimin with his three kids.
"These
cruise nights are better than a car show," said one Aiea
resident who didn’t want his name published.
Kathy
Olomana from Waipahu said she drives to Kalihi just to get saimin
from Shiro’s but when she saw all the hot rods in the parking lot,
"that was it! I hope they do this every month. Good food, live
music, cool cars and lotsa great people, it’s awesome!" she
said.
Well
Kathy, you’re in luck because Westside Cruisers have apparently
arranged to bring Cruise Nights there every other month, alternating
between both Shiro’s locations, one in Kalihi
Kapalama and the other in Ewa Beach Shopping Center.
There
had been over seven-car clubs including the Wanderers attending
February’s very first Cruise Night for the Shiro’s location
making it a great success!
The
next Cruise Night from Westside Cruisers will be March
19, at Shiro's, Ewa Beach Shopping Center, 91-919 Fort Weaver
Road.
