HILO HI. — Hawaii has a long and glorious racing history, though many may not know it.

Recording and educating people about that history is the goal of Hawaii Motorsports and Street Machines News new series called "Proud Story – The History of Racing in Hawaii".

The newspaper is looking for stories, pictures and people to contact who know about how racing got its start in Hawaii, going back to the years even before World War II.
